Maria Owings Shriver born November 6, 1955 is an American journalist and author of six best-selling books. She has received a Peabody Award, and was co-anchor of NBC's Emmy-winning coverage of the 1988 Summer Olympics. A Catholic of German descent through her ​​father and Irish American descent through his mother, she is the second child and only daughter of the politician Sargent Shriver and Eunice Kennedy Shriver.

It was back in 2001 when Gigi Goyette was paid $20,000 to not talk about her supposed affair with Arnold Schwarzenegger.

Now, since it was recently discovered that the “Kindergarten Cop” actor not only had an affair while married to Maria Shriver, but had a son as well, Gigi’s story is back in the news.


Talking with Extra, Miss Goyette dished about her encounter with the former Governor of California while also apologizing to Miss Shriver, saying, "I am very sorry for the mistakes I made in the past and for being intimate with your husband, and I would hope that you would forgive me for that."

In response, Schwarzenegger's attorney, Marty Singer, told People Magazine, "This woman recently sold at least four stories to the tabloids relating to my client."

The rep also added, "She's just a person who wants to make money selling stories. Her actions speak for themselves."

Goyette's lawyer, Gloria Allred, says the reason her client is coming forward now "is to set the record straight about the nature of her relationship with Arnold."

According to Allred, Goyette's relation with Schwarzenegger began when the actress was 17 years old and continued, with extended hiatuses, until 2000 or 2001.

She’s had a whirlwind past couple of days, but Maria Shriver put on a brave face and helped Oprah Winfrey tape her farewell show last night (May 17).

With the event being held at the United Center in Chicago, IL, the estranged wife of Arnold Scwarzenegger told the famous talk show host, “You bestowed the most amazing friendship on me, given me love, support, wisdom and most of all truth.”

The word “truth” was followed by a pause from the audience before leading into a stirring applause, with Winfrey and Shriver putting their arms around one another.

During dinner the night before, Oprah was present when Maria learned of her husband’s decision to go public with his secret sex scandal - as he fostered a child with house staffer Mildred Baena over a decade ago.

Luckily, the 55-year-old has close friends and family members who are helping her through this tumultuous time.

In addition, a friend told press that Maria “will spend a lot of time on prayer and recovery.”
